La Paris Plage

The Parisian socialist governments response to those “poor” souls stranded in the city during the mass vacation exodus spanning the end July and most of August. La Paris Plage complete with pool, sandy space, bacci courts, brightly colored umbrellas and cabanas is meant to simulate metropolitan beaches. While the rest of the city is a virtual ghost town, those speedo-clad, bikini-bottomed frenchies flock to the 700 or so meters of sequestered streets along the Seine to roast, toast(alcohol of course flows freely) and boast that they are the “hard” working individuals left-behind to bolster the pillars of commerce.
